Following Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke glowingly about Brandon Williams, as shown on the club’s official Twitter page.
What did he say?
Williams made his first league start for Manchester United and was highly impressive, being voted Man of the Match by the supporters.
The 19-year-old made 4 successful tackles, 1 interception, 1 dribble and 1 key pass throughout the game, before being given a standing ovation when he was substituted in the 91st minute.
Solskjaer showed his delight for Williams following the game:
“He was excellent and he could’ve had a goal, could’ve had an assist, defended fantastically. So, very pleased for the boy, he’s had a great month.”

A time to remember
Before October, Williams had only played 45 minutes of first-team football for the Red Devils, with those coming in the Carabao Cup against Rochdale United.
Since then, he has played the entirety of two Europa League wins and the Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea, as well as coming on twice in the Premier League – making cameo appearances against Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth.
To be topping that off with a full match in the Premier League shows how far he has come in such a short space of time.
In addition to making it onto the pitch, The Mirror gave him a rating of 8, the highest of any player in United’s defensive unit against Brighton, adding: “Strong and committed throughout on first Premier League start. Denied a goal by Ryan.”
Part of the reason he made the team is that Ashley Young was suspended and Luke Shaw is injured, so it will be interesting to see whether the United manager decides to stick with him as a reward for his impressive form.
Certainly on this display we should expect to see more of him.
