Portsmouth's administrator Andrew Andronikou has confirmed that neither Paul Groves nor David James are likely to be the next manager at Fratton Park.
Andronikou says that he has fielded a number of CVs from interested parties, but says that first-team coach Groves is not among them.
He told The News:"I can say Paul Groves has not thrown his hat into the ring and nor do I expect him to.
"Discussions have been had between Paul and a senior member of my team and he wants to stay on as a coach.
"Along with all our backroom staff such as Ian Woan, Dave Coles, Guy Whittingham, right the way to the kitman, he has been tremendous.
"But he wants to distance himself from the job, he does not want to be manager."
Meanwhile, Andronikou commented that he felt that the time was not right for England goalkeeper James to step up into management.
He added:"I know David wants to go into management, but he has not really got the experience at the moment.
"At his age he has two decisions – whether to go into coaching and managing or go into the media.
"Really he needs to learn his trade under somebody and needs to get his coaching badges, so I'm not sure whether this is quite the right time for him."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
