da brwin: Simon Mignolet fell down Liverpool’s pecking order midway through last season.
da brdice: Manager Jurgen Klopp had decided that the Belgium international was no longer worthy of the number one spot.
Loris Karius took Mignolet’s place, but after a costly performance in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in May, Liverpool were on the hunt for a new shot-stopper.
In the end, the Merseyside outfit recruited Brazil’s first-choice shot-stopper Alisson, who has impressed in between the sticks since making his Premier League debut against West Ham United earlier this month.
With the 25-year-old now at the top of the pile, doubts about the long-term futures of Karius and Mignolet swiftly rose.
On Saturday, Liverpool confirmed via their official website that Karius has joined Besiktas on a two-year loan deal.

The news has left Mignolet feeling confused, and he has accused the club of giving his teammate preferential treatment.
In an interview with Het Laatste Nieuws, the Belgian said:
“I find it bizarre that Karius is [on loan], while I also had options to be [loaned]. But for some reason that was not possible. A goalkeeper who was preferred to me last season may leave on a loan basis. Strange.
“[Karius leaving] does not change anything for me. I have always been clear – I want to play. No. 2 or No. 3 makes little difference. Playing minutes is the most important. Nothing has been said to me after the departure of Loris. So I do not know what my future at Liverpool is. We’ll see what happens this week.”
Some Liverpool fans have been tweeting their reactions to Mignolet’s comments.
