da imperador bet: According to Birmingham Live, Aston Villa are weighing up a move for Dwight Gayle, a player who scored against the Villans during the play-offs.
The forward pounced on a mistake from Glenn Whelan in the first leg of their semi-final clash before rifling the ball into the back of the net.
And it’s over the course of those two matches that Villa reportedly asked about him.
However, with the news of a potential switch in mind, the Villa Park faithful haven’t taken too kindly to the 28-year-old.
Commenting on Twitter, they were strongly against the idea as one fan urged the club to aim higher with their recruitment. Another claimed it would be a wasteful signing, suggesting the Championship was his level.
A further supporter said that they wouldn’t feel confident in him at Villa, again citing the fact he isn’t good enough in the Premier League.
Gayle’s best season for goals in the top-flight was in 2013/14 when he scored seven. However, over the course of his last two years in the Championship he’s netted 47 times.
Here’s the best of the reaction.
